Since inception in 1991, the Capitol Skating Fund has distributed more than $400,000 to promote figure skating in the Washington DC region. The Fund founded the national recognized Edward G. Picken ProAm annual ice dancing competition and brought the 2003 World Figure Skating Championships to Washington. It has supported training camps for judges and skaters. The Fund has been a consistent contributor to the innovative, community-based programs of the Friends of Ft. Dupont Ice Arena. The CSF has promoted educational sessions at local ice dance weekends as well as development of synchronized skaters and theater on ice. And, it has assisted the training of local competitors such as:
